Current limiter
Various devices for current limitation are available in the eibabo online shop. But what are these devices used for? Inrush current limiters or starting current limiters are often used when motor-driven devices and machines are used, but these have a very high power consumption when switched on. Under certain circumstances, this can trigger a voltage peak that is several times the secured nominal current. Especially in buildings with older electrical installations, this can lead to overloading of the power grid. A starting current limiter is therefore installed between the device and the house electricity and automatically reduces the load on the mains when the device is switched on. There are also high-quality current-limiting relays in the range, which, for example, regulate the load on the mains in larger installations with fluorescent lamps or in lights with ballasts. These installations can be further protected by using motor protection switches or safety temperature limiters.
