Bulb socket - Of course, if you want to mount a new lamp, make sure that you use the right socket. There are, however, a large number of different versions, all of which have special or individual properties. Which socket you need can depend on the one hand on the amperage and on the other hand on the space available in the lamp. We will introduce you to the differences and similarities and support you in your purchase decision.Basically, the selection is huge and most of the differences are clear. Inexpensive plastic frames are available in the eibabo® shop as well as versions made of high-quality ceramic. You will also find models with different diameters and sockets into which the bulbs are screwed or clamped. Speaking of light sources: Last but not least, the choice of light bulb also determines which socket must be used. The counterpart to a socket is the so-called base of the light source. Proper functioning of the lamp can only be guaranteed if the base and socket fit together. TIPThe frames offered here are attached individually. Choose from models with screw holes, screw lugs, spring clamps, threads or mounting brackets. However, there are also distinguishing features, the purpose of which often only becomes clear at second glance. At this point we give you a small overview.Which lamp holders are the most common? The base is an indispensable element of any light source, since it performs the function of fastening and power connection. By connecting the base to the lamp socket, the lamp / illuminant is fixed to the light and supplied with energy. Of course, the lamp base and lamp socket must be of the same type, otherwise the connection will fail. Now one would think that this is self-evident and does not pose a problem in everyday life.Yes and no: Because the times when there were only lamp sockets with a thread are long gone. The modern world of lamps is now so diverse that the market for base types and the required lamp sockets has become very confusing. The manufacturers of modern lighting are constantly developing new variants. With a spontaneously bought lamp, you quickly acquire a surprise in the form of a previously unseen lamp socket. It's good if the first lamp is already there. But nothing lasts forever. Sooner or later it's time to replace a burned out lamp with a new one. We present the most common forms of lamp holders. Essentially, these are divided into screwable and pluggable sockets.E40 - screw socket for lamps with an output of more than 200 watts at 230 volts (use in the industrial sector or with conventional street lighting)E27 - classic standard screw socket for household lamps up to 60 watts at 230 volts with a plastic socket, up to 200 watts at 230 volts with a ceramic socket (usually used for Edison bulbs, energy-saving lamps, filament and LED)E14 - screw socket for lamps with an output of up to 60 watts at 230 volts (usually used for Edison light bulbs, energy-saving lamps, filament and LED)GU5.3 socket for simple plug-in pins with a spacing of 5.3 millimeters (often used in low-voltage spotlights with reflectors)GU10 sockets with bayonet lock, into which two solid pins are inserted, a quarter turn establishes the electrical connection (often used with spotlights with reflectors)G4 - receptacle for U-shaped plug pins with an average spacing of 4 millimeters (found in small halogen glass lamps or LEDs)G5 - Bayonet jack for fluorescent tubes with a pin spacing of 4.75 millimetersG13 - Bayonet jack for fluorescent tubes with a pin spacing of 12.7 millimetersG9 - receptacle for U-shaped plug pins with a mean distance of 9 millimeters (found in halogen glass lamps or LEDs) And that's by far not all. Here in the eibabo® shop you will also find sockets with the designations E10, R7s, 2G11, GX5.3, GZ10, G23 and around a dozen others. The 'E' in the screw sockets stands for Thomas Edison, the developer of the corresponding socket thread. The following number describes the diameter of the thread in millimeters. The 'G' is used for plug connections, with the following number indicating the mean distance between the two plug pins in millimeters.Image: Houben 102599 E27 lamp holderWhat material should I choose for lamp holders? When choosing a lamp holder, you often have a choice of different materials. You can choose from different metals such as aluminium, steel or brass, several plastics and ceramic/porcelain sockets. What is Bakelite?Bakelite is a thermoset phenol-formaldehyde resin that is easy to form during manufacture and has high resistance to electricity, heat and chemical attack. It was the world's first commercially successful plastic. It is rarely used today because once a product has hardened, it cannot be melted down and recycled. The main difference between these materials is their ability to withstand certain temperatures. For a rough estimate of which material is right for you, you can use the following information: modern plastic frames can withstand temperatures of up to around 210 °C, Bakelite is resistant up to 190 °C, ceramic frames and metal frames tolerate 230 °C and more. The higher the wattage rating on the bulb, the more heat is generated. For high heat output bulbs or special heat lamps, metal or ceramic sockets are usually the best option. How is the power connection to the lamp socket?Another difference is the type of cable connection. Here we distinguish between a detachable and a fixed connection. The fixed connection is usually made by soldering. In these cases, the lamp socket only has the contact pins required for this, to which the wires of the cables must be soldered. More often you get lamp sockets with detachable connections. These are made either via a screw connection or a plug-in connection / clamp connection.Whether you should opt for a lamp socket with a plug connection or a screw connection essentially depends on the type of cables you have. Modern lampholders offer special connection points, where the wires are fixed just by plugging them in with a spring mechanism. To loosen this connection, the tension on the spring is usually released with a pointed tool. This method of assembly is simple and quick. However, you need stable wire ends for this. You only have this for cables with solid conductors or when using ferrules. With flexible lines (finely stranded cores, strands) you cannot establish a secure connection in this way. If you have flexible cables, you should use sockets with screw connections. This method is a little more time consuming, but you'll attach the wires tightly and securely. Solid conductors can also be easily connected using the screw method.  Catalogue content:In this eibabo® catalogue Accessories for lighting > Lamp holder you will find items from the following product groups:Item overview:Adapter socketAluminum frameBuilt-up versionBulb socketCeiling mountConnection lineConstruction versionFestoon holderHanging versionIllumination plugInstallation setJunction boxLamp baseLamp holderLamp socketLighting holderMiniature versionPendulum socketPlastic framePorcelain settingRecessed socketRubber plugScrew socketSealing ringSmall versionSocketSocket adapterThrough socketfrom the following manufacturers:Manufacturer overview catalogue Bulb socket:BachmannBJBBrumbergEVNHoubenIDVKleinhuisPaulmannRenzScharnberger+Has.SchuchSignify LampenSLV
Charging device e-mobility - How do I charge an electrically powered car, motorcycle, bicycle, scooter or skateboard? Which charging station is the right one for my vehicle? Find out here which requirements must be met for the installation of a charging station. We support you in the purchase decision and clarify frequently asked questions. Charging stations for electromobility are an investment in the future. The demand for electric vehicles is constantly increasing. Soon they will account for a massive share of the new vehicle market. Now is the ideal time to invest in charging stations. While the cost of electric vehicles is falling, the range is constantly increasing. This means that more and more people will be able to drive their entire journey in an electric vehicle. The increase in electric vehicles is also associated with an increased need for charging stations. If you would like to charge your vehicles at home or at work in the future, you will find suitable offers for high-quality charging stations in the eibabo® shop with which you can maintain your electric mobility. What is a charging station?A charging station connects electric vehicles to a power source. These are mostly electric cars. In the private sphere, such a device is also called a wall box. This provides the energy required to charge a battery. A distinction is made between AC chargers and DC fast charging stations. You can only charge a battery with direct current. The electricity from the socket is available as alternating current. For this reason, most electric vehicles have their own charger or charging cable with rectifier. This converts the alternating current into direct current. DC quick chargers are mainly found in public spaces. These enable charging with higher power. The direct current is supplied directly to the battery. The vehicle's converter is bypassed. There are simple and inexpensive models, but also extensively equipped variants. Some have smart meters, connectivity to cellular networks, or internet access. TIP:Many charging stations have a residual current circuit breaker. This saves you the cost of an external residual current device. The eibabo® shop not only has charging stations for electric cars, but also for electric bicycles. Why should I invest in a charging station?More and more people own an electric car. If you invest in a charging station, you can use it in your private environment or, for example, offer it to the residents of your building as a landlord. In private use, you make yourself independent of public charging stations. You determine the cost of charging yourself by choosing a cheap energy supplier. There is also the option of connecting your own photovoltaic system. How to use your self-generated solar power to charge your vehicles. There are also many advantages for commercial use. For example, you can encourage your customers to charge their car while they shop. This extends the parking time and can attract new customers. What should I consider when buying the charging station for my electric car?Have the installation carried out by a specialist electrician.Define your equipment requirements before purchasing. Should it be possible to use it via a smartphone app? Do you want to record electricity costs and create statistics? Is access protection desired?A DC residual current detection integrated in the wall box reduces the costs of the house installation. When integrating into a photovoltaic system, please ensure that the interfaces are compatible.Wallboxes are usually not in permanent use. Therefore, the standby consumption should be as low as possible. Can the wallbox be switched off completely?Register the charging station with the network operator.Systems with more than 11 kW of power are subject to approval in Germany, for example. Please ensure that the manufacturer's declaration of conformity is available. This ensures that the device meets the requirements of your country.Good cable management including plug garage makes daily handling easier.A wall box with a socket should have a switchable locking device for the charging cable. This will prevent the charging cable from being stolen. Where should I install the wallbox?A wall box is best installed in a dry, shady place that is not exposed to direct sunlight. The ideal height should be around 1.5 to 2 meters above the ground. Make sure the area around the box is clear of obstacles. Depending on the installation location, the question of the correct cable length arises. It should be noted that power consumption and the associated costs increase with longer cables. Line losses may occur if the cable is too long. The recommended cable length for wall boxes is 10 meters. This is the optimal length to avoid losses and keep power consumption low.DangerThe requirements and standards that must be observed when connecting a charging station for electric cars can be very extensive. You should therefore commission a specialist electrician to do this.If you need a longer cable, you should consult an electrician. He is able to dimension the cable correctly and ensure that no losses occur.Do I need a separate charging station for my e-bike or pedelec? You can charge e-bikes and pedelecs at a classic household socket. If you live in your own house, this is possible in the garage, in the carport or in the basement. We recommend using a charging station if you regularly want to charge more than one bike at the same time. So the bikes are always in a designated place. The distribution of the wheels to several sockets in different rooms is no longer necessary. As a landlord, you can also offer your tenants the charging of their electric bicycles. As a rule, you do not have a publicly accessible socket in the underground car park or in the hallway. A charging station is a suitable alternative before the occupants of your house have to carry the electric bike into the apartment. Depending on the model, individual billing or locking of the charging points is possible.Which wall box is right for me?There are a number of factors to consider when choosing the right charging station. On the one hand, the power of the charging station should be matched to the required charging power of the vehicle. On the other hand, it is important to choose the fuse for the circuit and the dimensioning of the cable accordingly. TIP:The required charging power of a vehicle is usually specified in the operating instructions. For an electric car with a battery capacity of 40 kWh, for example, a charging capacity of 11 kW may be sufficient. Faster charging is possible if the charging station has a higher power. You can usually charge an electric car with a battery capacity of 60 kWh at a charging station with 22 kW. Circuit protection is important to prevent damage to the vehicle or charging station. The recommended fuse for a wall box with 3.7 kW power is 16 A. For a wall box with 11 kW power, the recommended fuse is 32 A and 22 kW power must be fused with 64 A. The dimensioning of the cable depends on the length of the cable and the desired charging power. For example, a 1.5 mm² cable is sufficient for a charging capacity of 3.7 kW. At least 6 mm² is recommended for a charging capacity of 11 kW. The number of charging points depends on the number of vehicles that are to be charged at the same time. If you want to charge several vehicles at the same time, there must be a separate charging point for each vehicle. The power of the charging station is divided among the vehicles. Dimension a new charging station for the future. Lay cables with a cross-section suitable for 22 kW. In this way you avoid further costs if you later buy a vehicle with a quick charging function. How do I calculate the charging time of my electric vehicle? The charging time of an electric vehicle depends on various factors, such as the battery capacity, the charging power and the discharge current. The battery capacity indicates how much electricity the vehicle's battery can store. The charging power is the maximum charging current with which the battery is charged. The discharge current is the maximum current at which the battery can be discharged. To calculate the charging time of an electric vehicle, divide the battery capacity in kilowatt hours (kWh) by the charging power in kilowatts (kW).Image: ABL 1W2221 wall boxThe following example shows how to calculate the charging time of an electric vehicle: A vehicle has a battery capacity of 24 kWh. The charging power is 3 kW. In this case, it takes 8 hours to fully charge the vehicle. What does load management mean for the charging station?A distinction is made between load management within the wall box and load management within the electrical installation. Wallbox load management has the following advantages:Optimized charging performance: Load management optimizes the charging performance of your wall box. For example, you can charge your battery faster and more efficiently.Protection of the battery: Another advantage of load management is that the battery is protected. The optimized charging performance prevents the battery from being overloaded.Maximize battery life: Since load management protects both the charging power and the battery, you can maximize the life of your battery. So you can benefit from your wall box for longer. If several smart charging stations are in use, these can be integrated into a building's load management system via additional modules. This means that several electric cars can be charged at the same time with the same connected load. The available power is automatically distributed to the number of charging vehicles. Companies, car parks and hotels with several charging stations thus avoid expensive power peaks.Do I need restricted access for my Wallbox? In many cases, the Wallbox is located in public or semi-public areas. This means that it is accessible to everyone. This can pose a security risk, especially if the wallbox is not properly secured. A lockable wall box provides an additional layer of security. Unauthorized persons are prevented from accessing it, for example in a communal garage, in a hotel car park or company car park. Another option is to connect the Wallbox to an RFID system. This means that only authorized persons can open the box and use the power plug. RFID systems can be installed either on the wallbox itself or on a separate access control system.  Catalogue content:In this eibabo® catalogue Industrial socket / plug applications > Charging device E-Mobility you will find items from the following product groups:Item overview:Bike charging stationBike charging stationsCharging caseCharging stationElectric bikeElectric bikesElectromobilitySocket housingVehicle chargerfrom the following manufacturers:Manufacturer overview catalogue Charging device e-mobility:ABLGSABHagerMennekes E-MobilitySchneider ElectricSpelsbergWalther
Earthed plug - Electricity is essential in all areas of daily life these days. Whether household appliances, entertainment or even driving a car - nothing works without electricity. But not only the use of electricity is important, the secure connection of the electrical devices is also crucial. SCHUKO plugs are used here. These plugs are reliable and guarantee a stable connection between the devices and the mains. SCHUKO is the abbreviation for protective contact and a system of plugs and sockets. The SCHUKO plug is part of this plug-in system, which can be plugged in and unplugged under electrical voltage or load. What is a SCHUKO plug?SCHUKO is a system of mains plugs and sockets of the CEE 7/4 standard. These are also known as Type F connectors. Type F plugs are used, for example, in Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, Austria, Spain, Sweden, Finland, Norway and many countries in Eastern Europe.Already knewThe grounded SCHUKO plug in its current form was patented in 1929 by Siemens-Schuckertwerke AG. This was preceded by a patent by Albert Büttner, who designed the basic shape of the plug and held all the necessary parts together with just a single screw.SCHUKO plugs and the associated sockets are usually equipped with a protective earth and are intended for use in 230-volt networks with a current of 16 amps. SCHUKO plugs and sockets are unpolarized. That means: outer conductor and neutral conductor are randomly connected. In addition to the outer conductor and the neutral conductor, the system has a green-yellow protective conductor, which takes over the protective earthing with two flat contacts at the top and bottom of the plug. When plugged into a socket, the SCHUKO plug closes the connection cavity of the socket and thus prevents contact with conductive components when making contact. First, a ground is established between the flat contacts of the plug and the grounding terminals located in the socket. Only then do the phase conductor connections and the neutral conductor connections come into contact with one another. And it is precisely this fact that is special about the SCHUKO system and gives it its name: the protective contact connection diverts dangerous voltages as soon as the electrical circuit is closed by the other two poles. This design with leading protective contact ensures that there are no dangerous voltages on accessible parts of the device.Additional lateral guide slots in the socket are required for reasons of stability. These enable the use of large and heavy SCHUKO plugs, for example with a built-in transformer or timer.Image: Mennekes 10837 Schuko plugBasic information on the typification of plugs and socketsThe plugs and sockets that exist worldwide are numerous and correspondingly different. Their design and structure is often historical and adapted to the conditions of the power grid in the respective region. Worldwide, we distinguish between two standards for wired AC transmission. On the one hand, this is the 230 volt standard with a frequency of 50 Hertz / 60 Hertz. On the other hand, it is the 110 volt technology with a frequency of 50 Hertz / 60 Hertz. Based on this, individual countries and manufacturing companies began to offer their own connectors. This led to a high degree of individualization. The introduction of a globally standardized plug system failed on the one hand because of political sensitivities, wars and conflicts and, of course, because of the two already established transmission standards. Because there would be a risk of devices being damaged or short circuits or fires occurring if a device were connected to a network with a voltage other than its nominal value. As a result, the development of adapters and transformers was accepted instead to achieve cross-system international compatibility.NoticeThere are currently 15 plug / socket standards worldwide, referred to as plug types A to O. Here in Central Europe, types C, E and F are used, some of which are also compatible with each other. The Type-C plug is an unearthed two-pronged plug that used to be standard in most European countries as well as in the countries of the former USSR. This type is considered the forerunner of today's French type E and the German type F. Type C plugs are still often found in the form of flat plugs on many devices such as fairy lights, floor lamps, razors, hair dryers and other small household appliances. In the international CEE system, this plug shape is referred to as the CEE 7/16 standard. Type C plugs fit perfectly into a Type F SCHUKO socket. With the French type E plug, there is a grounding contact for the protective conductor in the center above the pins for the phase conductor and neutral conductor. The counterpart to this is a pin that protrudes from the French Type E socket. Classic plugs of this type are usually round and do not fit into the Type F SCHUKO socket because the lateral guide grooves and the recess for the earthing contacts attached at the top and bottom are missing. However, these are only very rarely found and are increasingly being replaced by CEE 7/7 plugs, which fit both type E sockets and type F SCHUKO sockets. The German Type F SCHUKO plug is widely used throughout Europe, as well as in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. This is characterized by the grounding clamps at the top and bottom and by a guide groove on the right and left. In the international CEE system, this plug shape is referred to as the CEE 7/4 standard and is not compatible with the French Type E socket due to the lack of a recess for the grounding pin. This is why it is now considered obsolete. In the course of a homogenization of the European market, this plug is often replaced by the CEE 7/7 plug, which is a hybrid E/F plug. The CEE-7/7 SCHUKO plug is therefore the current, grounded and universal continental European standard:with grounding clips on both sides to match with Type F socketwith a socket contact to accept the ground pin of the Type E socket  by the wayThe socket of the SCHUKO socket is set back by 15 mm so that there is no risk of electric shock if the plug is partially inserted. Both the SCHUKO system and the French counterpart are designed for a nominal voltage of 230 volts at 50 hertz. All components are designed for 16 amps as standard. At 230 volts, this corresponds to an output of 3,680 watts. What is a contour plug?In connection with SCHUKO plugs, we often hear the term contour plug. A contoured plug is a two-pole (i.e. unearthed) plug that has the necessary recesses for the German grounding clamps, the guide grooves and an additional hole for the French protective conductor contact on the rounded edge of the plug. The plug thus fits into both systems, but does not use the protective contacts. At eibabo® you will find not only classic SCHUKO connectors, but also 2KT SCHUKO connectors (for difficult conditions), duroplastic connectors, flat connectors, flat cable connectors and flat connectors. Rubber plugs and PVC SCHUKO plugs as well as assembly plugs, angled plugs and wall plugs are also available for the SCHUKO system. In addition to the protective contact plugs of the SCHUKO system, we also carry protective contact plugs of the Swiss system and the English plug system. Please noteSCHUKO plug connections are not always compatible with other safety plug systems. SCHUKO plugs from all approved and well-known manufacturers are offered here in the shop, including ABL Sursum, Berker, Bachmann, Merten, Mennekes, Gira, Busch-Jaeger and Apsa.  Catalogue content:In this eibabo® catalogue Domestic switching devices > Plug with protective contact you will find items from the following product groups:Item overview:Angle connectorBelgium clutchBelgium plugConnectorConnectorsDevice connectorElamide connectorEuropean plugFrance clutchFrance plugFrench plugHousehold plugProtective contactRubber plugSafety plugSchuko plugSocketsSolid rubber plugfrom the following manufacturers:Manufacturer overview catalogue Earthed plug:ABLBachmannBalsBerkerBusch JaegerE+P ElektrikElsproGiraHartingHirschmannJungKleinhuisLegrand BticinoMennekesMertenMeyerSchulteWalther
Led lamp multi-led - Don't you think that the era of conventional light bulbs is coming to an end? The range of LED bulbs has taken over the lighting market and is now wider than other types of bulbs. Find out here how the LED lamp has developed over the last few years and why you should replace the conventional lamps you may still have with modern technology. The decades in which conventional incandescent lamps dominated domestic lighting are over. The future belongs to LED lamps, which have been developed in a wide variety of types and shapes in recent years. These are now used everywhere at home, in offices, hotels and public buildings as well as in industry. Even in concert technology, theater lighting and municipal lighting, LED technology has become indispensable.Image: Philips MLEDspotVal LED reflector lampWhat are the advantages and disadvantages of an LED lamp?An LED lamp is a rather complex electronic device with dozens of details that affect the quality of light, safety and lifespan of the lamp. There are numerous differences compared to classic incandescent lamps and the modern compact fluorescent lamps (energy-saving lamps). These have some advantages, but also come with a few disadvantages. NoticeThe main advantage of LED lamps is energy saving. With the same light output, the LED lamp consumes 7 to 10 times less electricity than a conventional incandescent lamp. Other differences are:Durability - the LED bulb lasts 15x to 50x longerLess heat development - the lamp usually does not get that hotLED lamps shine with the same brightness despite the lower mains voltageInstallation ? lower power consumption allows installation in a power-limited luminaireThe light from modern LED lamps is optically comparable to that of conventional incandescent lamps Compared to compact fluorescent lamps (energy-saving lamps), there are the following advantages:Environmental friendliness - LED lamps do not contain any hazardous substances such as mercury.Economy ? The LED lamp consumes less energy with the same luminous flux.In contrast to the compact fluorescent lamp, the LED lamp lights up immediately with full brightness.Compact fluorescent lamps have an unnatural light spectrum. The light spectrum of an LED lamp is much closer to natural light. But there are also disadvantages:The price of an LED lamp can be higher than other lamps.Due to the complex structure, numerous products of poor quality are on the market. Not all models support dimming. The performance specifications of some manufacturers deviate from the actual performance. Briefly on the history of the LEDThe history of the LED begins as early as 1907. British engineer Henry Joseph Round first observed the formation of a point of light when direct current is passed through a silicon carbide point contact connection. In 1924, it was Oleg Vladimirovich Losev who investigated this effect in more detail and then constructed the first light-emitting diode (LED). After initial research, Losew proposed concrete theories of how it works and later used them in practical applications. Based on this, red, yellow, green and blue LEDs were developed in the 1970s and 1980s. Subsequently, white LED light sources were created from the combination of red, green and blue. In the 1990s, the first white LEDs appeared, which used a special chemical to convert the light from a blue or ultraviolet LED into white light. What types of LED lamps are there? As already mentioned, the range of offers is very wide. LEDs are not only available as individual components for self-assembly, but also in the form of strips, tubes or panels. In this catalog from the eibabo® shop, we present the LED versions of classic light sources. In other words: Here you get the LED alternatives to all possible types of incandescent lamps, halogen lamps and fluorescent lamps. The LEDs are installed in housings that resemble the original light sources. These can be classic lightbulbs, candles, spheres, spotlights or spotlights. The housings are equipped with the corresponding, standardized bases to enable easy replacement with the conventional variants. The most common sockets are:E27, E40 and E14GU10 and GU5.3G9, G13, G23 and G4GX53R7sand some others What are COB LEDs?Anyone who deals with the selection and differences between individual LED lamps will come across the term COB LEDs. COB LEDs are multiple LED chips that are grouped and bonded together by the manufacturer to form a single module. As a result, the chips are smaller and can be installed closer together. The LED chips are mounted directly in contact with a substrate such as silicon carbide or sapphire. This achieves a significantly higher lumen density in a smaller space. COB technology also uses a single circuit design with only two contacts, no matter how many chips are involved. And what does this mean? In contrast to other LED light sources, there are no longer any transitions in the light from one LED to the next. A uniformly luminous field of any shape and size is created. The term COBCOB is the abbreviation for 'Chip on Board'. This means that the chips are attached directly to a carrier substrate and therefore fewer components are required per LED chip for proper operation. Along with eliminating the otherwise common LED chip structure packaging, less heat is generated and higher installation density is achieved. This technology made it possible, for example, to produce flexible and yet optically uninterrupted light strips. The filaments in the currently very popular 'Edison light bulbs' are also based on COB technology. What characteristics should I look out for when buying LED lamps? There are numerous parameters that can influence the purchase of an LED lamp. Let's take a closer look at some of them:The luminous flux / luminous fluxThe luminous flux is given in lumens and is the total amount of light that the lamp emits in a certain time. The more lumens, the brighter the lamp.the frequencyNatural light sources shone evenly, like candles or the sun. Many electric light sources do not emit an even, but a pulsating light. At a frequency of 50 Hz, the light 'flickers' 50 times per second. Even if we are not consciously aware of this, our body registers the pulsation and may react with discomfort, tiredness and even malaise. Light with a frequency above 300 Hz has no noticeable effect on the human body. So pay attention to the highest possible frequency. The color temperatureLED lamps are available in different light color temperatures. These are given in Kelvin, for example:1800K - Candlelight2600K - warm light like incandescent bulbs3000K - warm white comfortable light5000K - neutral white daylight6000K - Cool White Light White and cool white light is said to increase concentration and efficiency, while warm light promotes relaxation. Warm lighting is recommended so that you can fully relax and fall asleep better after coming home from work. Color temperatures of around 3000 Kelvin are suitable for everyday household routines. It can be daylight to work.In addition to the main parameters, it is important to note some other characteristics of LED lamps. These would be:Illumination angle ? width of the cone of light illuminating a given areaOperating voltage ? Most LED lamps are designed for a mains voltage of 230 V, lamps with GU5.3 and G4 sockets are also available for 12 voltsEnergy Consumption - Typically, the wattage of the lamps is in the range of 1.5 watts to 15 watts. However, this says nothing about the actual brightness. This is given in lumens (see above)Dimmability ? There are dimmable and non-dimmable models. Many dimmable LED lamps do not dim completely, but only to 15% to 20% of full brightness. This depends not only on the lamp, but also on the dimmer.Dimensions - When choosing lamps, don't forget the overall dimensions. LED lamps are sometimes significantly larger than the corresponding light bulbs. As a result, a bulb may not fit into the lamp or protrude.Service life ? The service life is mostly given as between 10,000 and 50,000 hours. Be aware that these are theoretical values.Guarantee period - The longer the manufacturer gives a guarantee on a lamp, the more likely it is that it will be of the highest quality.Date of Manufacture ? Technology is evolving rapidly. If lamps have been stored for a long time, you will surely find better models from more recent productions.  TIP:The indication of the power equivalent to an incandescent lamp is no longer up-to-date (e.g. 'corresponds to 40W') and is also becoming less and less relevant as technology continues to improve. Instead, select your lamp based on the lumen specification. Buy your multi-LED lamp from eibabo® now. In our shop you will find multi-LED lamps for almost all common bases, lamp types and in many shapes. With the LED lamps we offer you can easily replace your old lamps and save up to 80% energy compared to conventional light bulbs. With a bit of creativity and stylistic sensitivity, you can turn pendant lights into full-fledged furnishings that create atmosphere and enhance your ambience. Pendant lights are even used in industrial workshops. However, these are technically and optically optimized for these applications.Image: Fischer & Honsel 69540 LED pendant lightWhat should be considered when installing pendant lights?Remember that pendant lamps need a reference point in order to look their best. Suspended anywhere in the room, pendant lights usually look out of place. Pendant lights can be ideally adapted to the spatial conditions. With high ceilings, the length of the suspension can often be adjusted manually. A distance of around 60 to 80 cm above the edge of the table has proven to be the ideal height for lights above the dining table. Of course, this can vary depending on taste and the size of the lamp. You should make sure that your new pendant lamp has a lampshade in order to form a cone of light and direct the brightness optimally to the desired area. As a result, other areas are not or only diffusely illuminated and the light is not perceived as disturbing.our recommendationAvoid pendant lights in rooms with low ceilings and bathrooms. Use ceiling spotlights or recessed spotlights instead. For cheap and stylish spotlights and recessed lights, please select the appropriate category here in the shop.Smaller pendant lights with a small lampshade look particularly stylish when placed above bedside tables, your bar or a side table. Many of our pendant lights are also available in versions with multiple light sources, so that you can easily implement uniform illumination of larger tables or longer areas. How big should a pendant light be?For a successful look, it is advisable to follow a few basic stylistic rules, especially in the private sphere. These relate to:the size/diameter or circumference of the pendant light in relation to the room sizethe installation height in relation to the room height It is assumed that lamps that are too large or too small disturb the harmonious overall impression. Calculating the rough guideline is quite simple:(Length of the room in meters + width of the room in meters) x 10 = the optimal diameter of the pendant light in centimetresIt is clear that very few lights consist of a sphere and therefore the diameter cannot always be used as a reference. Alternatively, the circumference calculated from this can be used, for example if the pendant light consists of several spheres or has an elongated shape. An example:(Room length 5.5 meters + room width 4.5 meters) x 10 = 100 centimeters in diameter or 314 centimeters in circumferenceOf course you can also deviate from this. Other influencing factors often also play a role in the decision. For example, whether the floor plan of the room is very simple or complex, or whether there is already a lot of furniture in the room. The height of the pendant lamp should not be more than one third of the distance from the floor to the ceiling. With a ceiling height of 3 meters, this is 1 meter. For classic living room heights of around 2.7 meters, 50 to 70 cm should be chosen so that the height to the floor is at least 2 meters. Are pendant lights also suitable as workplace lighting? The lighting effect of pendant lights results from the design, the light source used and the positioning of the light. In this way, you can influence whether the effect of the lighting should be more direct or more indirect, or whether the light should be diffused or directed. You can also use pendant lights in the company as office lighting or workplace lighting. Of course, the requirements for optimal lighting in the workplace are high, but with the right shape and suitable lamps, this can be implemented without any problems. TIP:If necessary, such pendant lights for the office can be equipped with a grid or diffuser in front of the light source. These emit a glare-free light on the work area. Use pendant lights in an elongated design if they are to be placed directly above the desk. LED strips ensure even light distribution over the entire length. This ensures that the pendant lights used do not cast any lateral shadows and that the entire work area is optimally illuminated. The higher the light source, the wider the irradiated area and the lower the illuminance on the floor and work surface. To ensure the desired light intensity, you should adjust the height of your pendant lights correctly. Never place them lower than two meters so that employees do not accidentally hit their heads. What advantages do pendant lights offer? The main advantage of pendant lamps is the ability to place light sources at the right height. This is especially useful when organizing lighting on dining tables, kitchen worktops, warehouses, machine rooms, workshops and industrial halls where the rooms typically have high ceilings. Another plus is the easy installation. How a pendant light is attached depends on its design. Usually 1 to 2 suspension points are required. Particularly large and heavy models can also have more suspension points. Whether for private use or commercial use - pendant lights are available in countless variants, colours, price ranges and designs. There are both classic and creative pendant lights of various types on the market. The selection is so large that you are sure to find a model that suits you.Which bulbs should I use for pendant lights? When buying your new pendant light, don't just look at its appearance. Consider at the same time an economical, effective and powerful lighting effect. This is easily possible with LED pendant lights. Pendant lights with LED bulbs offer lower power consumption and a long service life. The LEDs are often permanently installed and cannot be replaced individually. But the use of energy-saving lamps is also recommended for pendant lights with replaceable lamps and classic screw sockets. Be sure to pay attention to the color temperature emitted by a light source. This is given in Kelvin (K). The higher the value, the more the color temperature shifts towards the blue. Daylight of around 5,500 Kelvin is recommended for use in laboratories, classrooms or in industry. This increases concentration and prevents fatigue. The somewhat warmer neutral white is generally used for offices. For comparisonCandlelight has a color temperature of around 1500 Kelvin. Lamps with a color temperature between 2200 and 2700 Kelvin are the right choice for a cozy atmosphere at the dining table.By the way:The chandelier is considered the forerunner of the modern pendant lamp. This was typically a multi-level lamp made of copper or iron, which was hung on chains and sometimes equipped with numerous candles. Magnificent accessories made of glass and crystal reflected the candlelight and thus optimized the light output.  Catalogue content:In this eibabo® catalogue Luminaires > Pendant luminaire you will find items from the following product groups:Item overview:Ceiling lampDining table lampDirect lightFlat lampGlass downlightInterior lightsKitchen lightLamp pendantLED linear systemLine of lightLinearLiving lightLiving room lampLiving room pendant lightMicroprism lampMounted lightOpal glass lampOpal glass lightsOutdoor lightingOval lampPendant lampPendant lamp modulePendant lightsPhase railPull pendant lightTrunking systemsVDU workstation lightWall lampfrom the following manufacturers:Manufacturer overview catalogue Pendant lights:AbalightArcliteAura LightBEGA GantenbrinkBrumbergBöhmerEgloESYLUXFabas LuceFischer & HonselHelestra LeuchtenHonselHoubenHufnagelLEDVANCELichtlineLTSNeuhaus LeuchtenNobileOligoOpple LightingPerformance in LightPhilips LichtRegioluxRidi-LeuchtenRZBScharnberger+Has.Schmitz-LeuchtenSchneiderSignify PLSSitecoSLVSun CracksTriluxTrio-LeuchtenWaldmannZumtobel

CEE-socket archit. scheme IP44 - You have certainly come across the term CEE in connection with electrical installations. This abbreviation stands for Commission on the Rules for the Approval of Electrical Equipment and regulates the approval and safety of electrical equipment through uniform plugs with fixed standards. All approved plug connections according to the CEE standard, but in this country only two different plug connections are colloquially referred to as such. On the one hand, there is the single-phase CEE plug, which is known as a caravan or camping plug. This is blue and can withstand a continuous load of up to 16 amperes at a voltage of 230 volts. On the other hand, there is the three-phase CEE plug, which has a red housing and, depending on the design, is designed for a voltage of 400 volts and a continuous load of 16 or 32 amps. You can obtain high-quality, safe plugs or sockets with CEE architecture for wall installation, for wall mounting and for mobile installation in the eibabo online shop.Catalogue content:In this eibabo® catalogue Industrial socket/plug applications > CEE/SCHUKO architectural programme (IP44) you will find items from the following product groups:Item overview:Built-in boxBuilt-in installation boxCE standard built-in boxCE standard surface-mount boxCEE extension socketCEE laboratory socketCEE socket outletCEE standard architectural socketCEE surface-mounted socketCEE type connectorCEE wall boxCEE wall socketCEE/SCHUKO architectural programme (IP44)CEEform cable duct socketCEEform flush-mounted boxCEEform flush-mounted socketCEEform mounting boxCekon built-in socketCekon laboratory socketCekon surface boxCekon TK combination socketEquipment mounted socket outletPanel socketPanel-mounted CEE socket outletSocket outletSurface socketThree-phase connectorWall socketfrom the following manufacturers:Manufacturer overview catalogue CEE-socket archit. scheme IP44:BalsBerkerElektraMennekesWalther

Modular plug connectors - What are modular connectors? Where can I use these in my home, commercial or industrial installation? What are the benefits of modular connectors? Does the eibabo® shop offer inexpensive and individual connectors? We answer these questions in the following post. In the field of electrical installation, connectors are of particular importance. Using plug-in connections, it is possible to connect two identical or different cables or lines with one another in a form-fitting manner. Such connections can also be released again.Modular connectors are constructed in such a way that they have properties in common with other components. These are, for example, the same installation dimensions or the type of connections and attachments. These work individually, but can also be combined with others within an assembly unit to form a larger whole or exchanged for one another. If you are interested in a flexible and modular structure for your electrical installation, browse through this eibabo® catalogue. Select the modular connectors that are right for you.Why are there modular connectors? The modern, modular connectors go back to the development of the American telephone system. The phone companies dominated the phone network for the first few decades and didn't allow third-party devices. This applied to both commercial and private use. To connect buildings and individual telephones to the network, bulky plugs were used, which had been in use since the 1930s. These had to be installed and maintained by specialist companies at great expense. As the telephone system became more widespread, a way was sought to reduce the high service costs. These efforts resulted in a modular system of components for standard connections. These were smaller, cheaper and easier to install. As a result, a standard was established for the connection between the telephone company's equipment and the customer's equipment. These standard interfaces were known as Registered Jacks (RJ). The RJ interface specification includes:the physical construction of the plugthe wiring patternsthe signal specifications Registered jacks are identified by the letters RJ. Additional digits describe the type and its properties. Modular connectors and RJ connectors are common names for the same devices. The use of modular connectors has helped fuel the global development of voice and data communications.Picture: Ruthenbeck UM-Cat.6A iso A universal moduleHow are modular connectors constructed?Modular plugs consist of a plastic or metal housing. The housing encloses stamped metal contacts separated by insulating channels. The contacts in the plug match the contacts in the socket. Part of the housing can often be used to lock the plug-socket connection and serves as strain relief. A modular plug or socket is assembled into a cable using a crimping tool. Depending on the use, individual connectors can have an even number of two to ten contact points. For this reason, the widths of the two connecting bodies vary. Not all contacts have to be assigned a line. Telephone (RJ11) connectors typically use four to six ports. RJ45 Ethernet connections have eight ports. The specification details describe the wiring. For example, a 6P2C connector has six positions and two contacts. A four-position, four-contact connector is designated 4P4C. TIP:The specification given for the wiring does not define the purpose of the wires. Modular connectors are also referred to as male or female. The male connectors are plugs or headers, the female ones are sockets or sockets. Some modular connectors supply low voltage AC or DC power to small electronic devices. What are the advantages of modular connectors? The biggest advantage of modular connectors lies in their standard use in communication and data transmission. The connectors are also used in production, in field installation and in the maintenance and repair of machines and systems. The advantages in production are:low prices and constant availabilityAssembly of plugs and cables without solderingrobust versions available for industrial applicationsPossibility to use the sockets on boards by reflow soldering The same advantages apply to installation and repair. In addition, value is placed on the following properties:Simple cable assembly and replacement of old connections on sitequick assembly with simple toolsnumerous wiring options This avoids production downtime and increases the reliability of a system.Where are modular connectors used? The use of modular connectors allows you to individually configure contact connections. Reliability and ease of use have made modular connectors an easy solution for many applications. The most common applications are data networks, telecommunications and low-speed serial connections. Due to the efficient and compact designs, these are also used as alternatives for bulkier and more expensive connectors in various products. Modular connectors are used worldwide and are among the essential components in data transmission and communication. Modular plug connections are also used in the industrial sector. Standardized assembly units are available for machines and systems, into which a wide variety of plug connections can be integrated. This allows individually multifunctional plugs and sockets to be put together. Use compact plug connections in terminal boxes and control cabinets. What types of modular connectors are there? There are many different types of modular connectors. The world's best known and most widely used modular connectors are:RJ10 - (4 positions and 4 contacts) - connects a telephone handset to a receiverRJ11 - (6 positions and either 2 or 4 contacts) - is used to connect telephone lines and modems, with 4 contacts with power supply via the second pairRJ12 - (6 position and 6 contacts) - for telephone line and additional control lines, used in larger telephone systemsRJ13 - (6 position and 4 contacts, with a circuit behind the line) - for telephone line and additional control linesRJ14 - (6 positions and either 4 or 6 contacts) - is used to connect two telephone lines, with 6 contacts with power on the third pairRJ45 - (8 positions and either 8 or 10 contacts) - Connector for high-speed data transmission in computer networks What special properties do modular connectors have?Special requirements must be met when modular connectors are used in factories, in automated processes or in image processing systems. Many of the modular connectors therefore have additional features. This makes them usable for specific applications. For example:shieldingIf electromagnetic interference is to be expected or the lines are very long, shielded lines and plug connections are often used. These cancel out electromagnetic interference. keyingDue to an attached tab, insertion of a true RJ45 plug into a jack is only possible in one orientation. This is to avoid improper wiring. Standard 8P8C connectors do not have this security feature. AssemblyFor production use, panel mount, board mount, through-hole mount, and surface mount are often possible. The sockets can have a vertical or horizontal orientation. display functionsModern modular connectors may also contain LEDs of different colors to indicate connection status. magneticsMagnets must be taken into account with any Ethernet connection. These are part of the Ethernet specification for 10BASE-T and 100BASE-T networks. The integration of the magnetics in the RJ45 socket shields against electromagnetic interference. Data connections are becoming more reliable. Highest qualityModular connectors are used in systems where high reliability and performance are important. These are, for example, the military and aviation and space travel. In order to meet the highest requirements, high-performance shielding, special coding, protective sleeves and particularly robust parts are used in these so-called Hi-Rel (High Reliability) models.Which manufacturers produce high-quality modular connectors?Implement tailor-made solutions for your requirements or for the wishes of your customers with our modular connectors. Different and variable housing variants and modular contact inserts enable flexible connection options. Many of the modular connectors offered by eibabo® are suitable for use under extreme environmental conditions, in industry and commerce. Antenna socket - Regardless of whether they are received via cable, satellite or terrestrial, radios and TV sets can be found in almost every household. And to establish a connection with the corresponding signal transmitter, one typically uses the classic antenna socket, which is actually present at least once in all modern apartments. Simple versions have the so-called Belling Lee socket for the television on the left and the Belling Lee socket for the radio on the right. More modern multimedia sockets can offer additional ports for connection. The well-known F-socket with the thread, which can be used for connecting a satellite receiver, for example, is widespread. Inexpensive antenna sockets with two, three or four connection options are available here in the eibabo online shop.Catalogue content:In this eibabo® catalogue Antenna and satellite technique > Antenna socket you will find items from the following product groups:Item overview:2-fold junction box2-way through socket3 hole through socket3-fold junction box4-fold junction box4-way through socketAntenna socketAntenna socket boxBK antenna socketBroadband socketData socketEnd socketEnd socket for antenna technologyFilter boxJunction boxLoop-through socketModem boxModem socketSAT double-pass socketSAT junction boxSAT pass-through socketSingle doseSingle/end boxSocket outletThrough socketTWIN branch socketTWIN end socketUniversal boxfrom the following manufacturers:Manufacturer overview catalogue Antenna socket:Astro StrobelBerkerBusch JaegerE+P ElektrikElsoGiraHagerHirschmannHomewayJungKathreinKreilingLegrand BticinoMertenOBOPehaPROTEC.classSiemensSpaunTechniSatTehalitTelevesTriaxWisi
